Drug Charges

Most drug-related offenses carry severe penalties in Florida. These penalties may include jail time, fines, and mandatory drug treatment programs. A conviction on any drug charge, even possession of a small amount of marijuana, carries a mandatory two-year driver's license suspension, as well as a permanent criminal record which can affect you for the rest of the life. More serious charges such as drug trafficking can result in a minimum mandatory prison sentence.

Sex Crimes

It is very common for sex crimes to be based on false allegations. Charges such as child molestation can be associated with a divorce, where one parent is falsely accused by the other parent to get the upper hand in a child custody dispute.

DUI/DWI Defense

As your lawyer, I won't know if the state can prove the DUI charges until I obtain discovery of all of the state's evidence. After I obtain the arrest report, the video, and other evidence, I will review it for possible weaknesses and missing links and discuss it with you. If you have defenses, we can force the state to prove its case in a trial. However, if we form the opinion that the state can prove its case, we can downshift to damage control and seek to minimize the charges and the sentence to the greatest extent possible.

Traffic Violations and Speeding Tickets

Simply paying a traffic ticket will result an adjudication of guilt, which may result in points assessed on your permanent driving record. This, in turn, can lead to higher insurance rates and even loss of driving privileges. If you have commercial driving license, traffic tickets can result in significant fines and even threaten your livelihood.

Domestic Violence and Restraining Orders

Domestic assault and battery is a unique charge in that the key evidence in the state's case is the testimony of a spouse, a relative, or a significant other. It is also possible that you will face consequences before you are found guilty in a criminal court. You may also be facing a civil petition for injunction against domestic violence. As a result, you could be barred from owning firearms or even entering your own home, all without the benefit of a trial.

Juvenile Crime

Too often kids are rushed through the Florida juvenile justice system. Even some parents encourage their children to plead guilty and take their punishment. However, a juvenile criminal record can have long-lasting or even permanent ramifications that are only discovered with hindsight.
